OKX Extends Funding Round at $25 Billion Valuation with Backing from Ripple, Circle, and SC Ventures

Cryptocurrency exchange OKX has successfully raised an undisclosed sum at a formidable $25 billion valuation, securing fresh capital from a consortium of its existing strategic partners and prominent industry investors.

The high-profile funding round featured participation from several major financial and blockchain heavyweights, including Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures investment arm, digital asset infrastructure firm Qube Research & Technologies, cross-border payment pioneer Ripple, and major stablecoin issuer Circle. OKX officially confirmed the transaction in a press announcement shared with Cointelegraph.

While the exchange elected to keep the exact financial figures of the investment round private, the raise represents a significant extension of a previously announced capital injection from earlier in the year. In March, OKX secured a landmark $200 million at the same $25 billion valuation from the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the influential parent company operating the New York Stock Exchange.

According to Star Xu, founder and chief executive officer of OKX, the fresh capital will be directly deployed to accelerate the exchange’s ambitious strategic evolution. The company is actively working to transition from a traditional digital asset trading venue into a broader global financial technology platform. This expansive vision aims to seamlessly bridge cutting-edge blockchain infrastructure with the rigorous compliance, security, and operational standards that users typically expect from traditional global financial institutions.

The capital raise comes on the heels of major structural developments for the exchange. Just a day prior to the funding announcement, a newly formed joint venture between OKX and ICE officially filed paperwork with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. The joint filing aims to establish and launch a dedicated tokenized United States stock trading platform. The proposed venture is designed to operate under the market regulator’s newly introduced innovation exemption framework, signaling a growing convergence between traditional capital markets and digital tokenization.

The ongoing expansion efforts underscore OKX’s broader strategic focus on real-world asset tokenization and institutional-grade financial services. Earlier, OKX Ventures—the investment arm of the exchange—signaled its commitment to the sector by backing an RWA-focused stablecoin initiative in collaboration with prominent financial entities Securitize and Hamilton Lane.

As digital asset exchanges increasingly seek to align themselves with traditional financial systems and regulatory frameworks, moves like the latest funding extension highlight sustained institutional confidence in core industry infrastructure providers. By partnering with established banking giants like Standard Chartered through SC Ventures, alongside major blockchain innovators like Ripple and Circle, OKX is positioning itself at the intersection of traditional finance and the evolving digital economy.

The transaction further solidifies OKX’s market valuation at $25 billion, a figure cemented by its earlier alliance with the Intercontinental Exchange. As the regulatory landscape around tokenized assets and digital finance continues to evolve, the exchange intends to utilize its reinforced balance sheet and strategic partnerships to drive its next phase of global growth and product diversification.
