Enterprise agentic artificial intelligence infrastructure operator Alsa has announced the successful completion of its seed extension funding round, welcoming Tether Capital and HIVEN as strategic investors. This latest financial injection brings the total capital raised by the San Francisco-based startup to more than $9 million, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to scale its operations and technology stack.
The two new strategic backers join a robust roster of existing investors that previously contributed to the company’s growth, including global tech titan Alibaba, Tribe Capital, Sumitomo Corporation, Draper Associates, and Saison Capital, alongside several other prominent backers. The influx of capital highlights the growing investor confidence in the nascent sector of agentic AI infrastructure, as enterprises increasingly look for reliable ways to deploy autonomous software agents at scale.
As organizations experiment with and deploy artificial intelligence models capable of executing complex workflows autonomously, foundational challenges regarding integration, security, and transaction management have come to the fore. Alsa was established to tackle these specific friction points, seeking to resolve the operational headaches caused by fragmented software providers, disparate application programming interface integrations, and disjointed billing systems that currently make it difficult for enterprise AI agents to operate effectively in production environments and manage tasks at scale.
Jordan Liu, founder and chief executive officer of the San Francisco-based startup, emphasized the core thesis driving the company’s product development and market strategy in a statement released on Friday. "Enterprise AI agents need trusted information, useful tools and a governed way to transact," Liu said. "Our vision is to build the infrastructure that enables agents to discover, access and pay for resources globally, while giving enterprises full control over permissions, spending and transactions."
To achieve this vision, Alsa’s platform is designed to connect enterprise-grade software agents to an array of external data sources, artificial intelligence search tools, foundational models, application programming interfaces, specialized software tools, and industry-specific services. Crucially, the platform combines this governed access with comprehensive usage metering, billing, and settlement capabilities, ensuring that corporate clients retain absolute visibility over how autonomous agents utilize resources and capital.
The participation of Tether Capital in the funding round brings a distinct financial and technological dimension to Alsa’s ongoing development. Tether Capital operates as the independent investment arm of Tether, the prominent issuer of the widely used USDT stablecoin. According to the company, the investment arm actively deploys capital derived from Tether’s profits and excess reserves to back forward-looking technological innovations.
This investment strategy aligns with broader corporate ambitions outlined by Tether’s leadership. In June 2024, Tether Chief Executive Officer Paolo Ardoino stated that the venture group expected to deploy at least $1 billion into various strategic deals spanning advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. By backing infrastructure providers like Alsa, Tether continues to cement its presence in sectors where programmable money, automated transactions, and decentralized or digital-first financial rails intersect with modern artificial intelligence.
Elucidating the strategic rationale behind the transaction, Tether noted that the investment in Alsa fits a clear, ongoing pattern in its portfolio deployment. The move directly follows Tether’s previous strategic investment in NEURA Robotics. That collaboration notably included plans to integrate Tether’s proprietary Wallet Development Kit, an initiative designed to allow physical machines and advanced robots to run artificial intelligence locally while executing transactions securely within predefined operational and financial limits.
The convergence of artificial intelligence agents and automated programmable payments represents an evolving frontier in enterprise technology. Industry analysts note that as software agents evolve from passive assistants capable only of answering queries into active participants capable of executing multi-step business processes, making purchases, and interacting with third-party software autonomously, the demand for robust intermediary infrastructure will only intensify.
Alsa’s positioning as an infrastructure layer designed to handle governance, discovery, and settlement addresses a critical bottleneck in enterprise adoption. By securing additional capital from major institutional and strategic players like Tether Capital, HIVEN, Alibaba, and others, the startup is well-positioned to expand its technological capabilities and market reach as the enterprise agentic AI landscape matures.
