PancakeSwap TVL Surges 19% as Community Votes on Major Fee Overhaul and Token Emission Cuts

Decentralized exchange (DEX) PancakeSwap has experienced a significant boost in its financial metrics, with its total value locked (TVL) growing by nearly 19% over the course of a single week. The protocol added approximately $380 million in capital as it moves toward a major structural overhaul regarding how it distributes trading fees to liquidity providers.

According to data from DefiLlama, PancakeSwap’s TVL climbed to $2.4 billion on Wednesday, marking a sharp increase from about $2.02 billion recorded on Oct. 14. This influx of capital was heavily concentrated within the platform’s V3 liquidity pools. Specifically, the TVL within these advanced pools more than doubled, surging from about $336 million to roughly $739 million over the same seven-day period.

This impressive growth coincided with PancakeSwap opening an important community governance vote on a comprehensive proposal titled "The Flip." If successfully passed, the initiative would drastically alter the economic incentives of the platform by increasing liquidity providers’ share of swap fees on V3 and Infinity pools to 88%. This represents a substantial jump from the current rate of 66% to 68% seen across most existing pools.

Alongside the enhancement of liquidity provider rewards, the proposal introduces a deflationary mechanism designed to protect the long-term value of the ecosystem’s native asset. It would gradually reduce daily CAKE token emissions by approximately 69%, bringing production down from 22,500 tokens per day to 7,000 tokens. The governance vote officially opened on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and is scheduled to run through Oct. 24. If the community grants its approval, the implementation of these sweeping changes is expected to begin in November.

PancakeSwap Leads BNB Chain Trading as Tokenized Stocks Expand

PancakeSwap continues to maintain its dominant position within the decentralized finance sector, particularly on its home network. The exchange accounted for approximately $4.67 billion in decentralized exchange trading volume on BNB Chain over the past seven days. According to DeFiLlama, this figure represents about 71% of the entire network’s total decentralized exchange volume. Furthermore, the network hosts the vast majority of PancakeSwap’s total liquidity, accounting for roughly $2.33 billion of the protocol’s overall $2.40 billion TVL.

This heightened level of activity occurs against the backdrop of broader, positive growth across the wider BNB Chain DeFi ecosystem. The network’s cumulative TVL climbed approximately 8.3% over the past seven days, bringing its total to $5.84 billion according to DeFiLlama metrics. Decentralized exchange trading volume across the broader network also experienced a major surge, jumping 40.2% to hit $6.54 billion over the exact same timeframe. Interestingly, this robust trading activity and capital inflow took place even as the network’s stablecoin market capitalization experienced a minor decline of 0.6%, settling at $13.1 billion.

Beyond traditional decentralized finance and cryptocurrency-native assets, BNB Chain has also witnessed a notable expansion in the market for tokenized equities—a specialized sector in which PancakeSwap has already established a firm presence. The decentralized exchange first began supporting Binance’s bStocks initiative back in June, providing users with the technological capability to seamlessly trade tokenized US stocks directly on-chain.

The momentum surrounding these real-world asset integrations reached a new milestone on Oct. 15, when Binance officially announced that bStocks had surpassed the $1 billion threshold in assets under management. This achievement occurred approximately four months after the product initially launched. Binance reported an impressive cumulative trading volume exceeding $40 billion for the product line, further noting that roughly 11.2% of the total value of bStocks was actively deployed within the decentralized finance ecosystem in early October.
